Room 5 has been very busy this week. We have been working on our story writing, practicing counting forwards and backwards from 20 and keeping an eye on our seeds.
This week we welcomed Clarissa Rhodes to our class , who has moved to Te Aroha from Auckland. Clarissa has had a lot of fun making new friends with the Room 5 children. Her favorite activity in class is working on the iPads and reading in our library corner.
This week our star learners were Zion and Lily who have been doing excellent reading in class and at home. Keep up the great work ! If you click on their picture below it turns into a puzzle!
Room 5 is a bustling and busy classroom of 5 year olds. We are always challenging ourselves, trying new things and learning about how school works. This blog is a way to keep whanau and friends updated on what is happening in and around our school lives. Please leave a comment so we know you have visited!

Our Garden
This week we have been getting our garden ready so we can grow some vegetables. First we did some weeding ,then we planted some lettuces and some little tomatoe plants.
We have been talking about healthy food that we can grow ourselves and what we need to do to look after these plants.
We also planted some seeds that we are looking after in class. We have to remember to water them ,but not too much, and make sure they get sunlight.

Term 3 final assembly
On Friday we had our last assembly of the term , part of this was a chance for us all to say goodbye and good luck to Mrs O'Connor.
Many great items were shared. We had a quiz where Mrs O'Connor had to guess which of her previous students was behind a screen giving her hints to who they were , the students in the Kids for Kids choir sung a song and there was also a Kapa Haka performance. To finish off the assembly we all sung a song about Mrs O'Connor to the tune of "She'll be coming round the mountain ".
We will all miss Mrs O'Connor but know she will have fun on her new venture down south.
Wishing you all the best on your new adventures, from all of us in Room 5.
Enjoy the rest of your holidays, not long until we see you back at school, don't forget in term 4 that we all need to be wearing our school hats, if you haven't got one you can buy them at the office.
See you all soon.
