Term 3 final assembly

On Friday we had our last assembly of the term , part of this was a chance for us all to say goodbye and good luck to Mrs O'Connor.
Many great items were shared. We had a quiz where Mrs O'Connor had to guess which of her previous students was behind a screen giving her hints to who they were , the students in the Kids for Kids choir sung a song and there was also a Kapa Haka performance. To finish off the assembly we all sung a song about Mrs O'Connor to the tune of "She'll be coming round the mountain ".
We will all miss Mrs O'Connor  but know she will have fun on her new venture down south.
Wishing you all the best on your new adventures, from all of us in Room 5.
Enjoy the rest of your holidays, not long until we see you back at school, don't forget in term 4 that we all need to be wearing our school hats, if you haven't got one you can buy them at the office.
See you all soon.

Teddy Bears Picnic

On Friday we had a Teddy Bear's Picnic in Room 5. The wet weather meant we had to have it inside. This was a farewell to Vayden, Calais, Rico and myself.
This will be my last post!!
It has been wonderful working with the children at Stanley Avenue School and I will miss everyone.

I will be checking out the blogs from time to time to see what has been happening.

6 tablespoons salt
Bag of ice
Big zip-lock bags
Small zip-lock bags

1. Put ice and salt in a big bag
2. Put sugar, milk and vanilla essence in the small bag
3. Zip up small bag and place it into the middle of the ice in the big bag
4. Zip up big bag and ...
    SHAKE IT!!!

Here are some photos of us making it:

Yum!

Today we were given some Homemade Ice Cream from Room 6. They made enough to share with us. We might have a go at making some next week. It was very nice.
Thank you Room 6 for sharing with us.
We have got a Story Book Castle in our room. On the door are the passwords we have to read before we go into the castle. We are going to write some awesome stories and put them where the bricks go. I can't wait to see what the children write.
Here is a photo of us enjoying the ice cream.

August 2014

Welcome to Paityn and Taylor who started this week. We know we are going to enjoy having you in Room 5.
We had our Cross Country on Wednesday, everyone ran really hard. It was lovely to see lots of parents and whanau there. That morning we made a playground. We have been looking at what it was like at school when our parents were five and one of the questions we asked was: Did you have a playground and what was on it? So we decided to build our own. Here is a collage of us making our playground and another collage of our creations.
