On Friday we had a Teddy Bear's Picnic in Room 5. The wet weather meant we had to have it inside. This was a farewell to Vayden, Calais, Rico and myself.
This will be my last post!!
It has been wonderful working with the children at Stanley Avenue School and I will miss everyone.
I will be checking out the blogs from time to time to see what has been happening.
Here is Room 5 with their Teddies:
Room 5 is a bustling and busy classroom of 5 year olds. We are always challenging ourselves, trying new things and learning about how school works. This blog is a way to keep whanau and friends updated on what is happening in and around our school lives. Please leave a comment so we know you have visited!

My last week
This is my last week coming up. I will be sad to stop working in Room 5! But I hand over to a lovely teacher - Miss Hayley Williams. She is going to be great!
We welcome some new people to Room 5, Briar and Sean. We are glad that you are with us!
This is the last week for Vayden and Calais, they are moving into Room 6. We hope you enjoy it as they will surely enjoy you being with them.

Five Minute Ice Cream
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup of milk/cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
6 tablespoons salt
Bag of ice
Big zip-lock bags
Small zip-lock bags
1. Put ice and salt in a big bag
2. Put sugar, milk and vanilla essence in the small bag
3. Zip up small bag and place it into the middle of the ice in the big bag
4. Zip up big bag and ...
SHAKE IT!!!

Yum!
Today we were given some Homemade Ice Cream from Room 6. They made enough to share with us. We might have a go at making some next week. It was very nice.
Thank you Room 6 for sharing with us.
We have got a Story Book Castle in our room. On the door are the passwords we have to read before we go into the castle. We are going to write some awesome stories and put them where the bricks go. I can't wait to see what the children write.

August 2014
Welcome to Paityn and Taylor who started this week. We know we are going to enjoy having you in Room 5.
We had our Cross Country on Wednesday, everyone ran really hard. It was lovely to see lots of parents and whanau there. That morning we made a playground. We have been looking at what it was like at school when our parents were five and one of the questions we asked was: Did you have a playground and what was on it? So we decided to build our own. Here is a collage of us making our playground and another collage of our creations.

Term 3
Oh dear, it is already nearly the end of Week Two and this is my first post. Sorry!!
We have started the term off with a little class. We did welcome Lily in Week One and at the end of that week , we had to farewell Ocean who has gone back to Tokoroa.
We have set some goals for our Reading and Writing and if we achieve them we might get a special prize. We were donated a lot of things from the owners of Cockerton's and thanks to them we can use them to make our learning even more special. Thanks!!
Gaebriel and Laelah-Belle have been entertaining us with little shows this week. Here they are singing for us.
